Born and raised in New York, Oscar Garcia moved to Ahwatukee 6 years ago and has been a member of the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA for 5 years. Admittedly, he was hesitant to join the Y at first. He originally came because it was close to his house, but he was immediately astonished when he first stepped into our facility! He loves that the Y is a community-based organization.
Oscar has a 1-year-old son and appreciates seeing youth basketball players geared up and competing. He also appreciates the rock climbing and swimming lessons, as well as our trusted Amazing Kids Club. He looks forward to doing all of these activities with his son at the Y in the future. He loves the one-stop-shop aspect of our facility—whether it’s coming back slowly from one of his brain surgeries and he needs a yoga class, or if he’s feeling ambitious and goes to one of Jackie’s hardcore workouts: The Y has it all for him.

He also enjoys talking with T and Colleen at the Welcome Center as they are there to greet him personally with smiles and hospitality. Oscar appreciates the staff team that welcomes the community in as members and makes them feel at home. We appreciate members like Oscar and his family who engage in the YMCA and give a positive and optimistic outlook to life and its many beauties. We are thankful for your dedication to our YMCA family!
