At the age of 1, she and her family moved to the vibrant city of Glendale and made it their new home. She was first introduced to the Y by her sister, who had joined the Y years ago and fell in love with their children’s programs and classes.
“I was a stay at home mom,” Elizabeth tells us. “I needed an outlet and ‘me time.’” Elizabeth was eager to find a place where she connected with other mothers that shared the same goals as herself.
After trying a few different group fitness classes at the Chris-Town YMCA, Elizabeth had found exactly what she was looking for. She enjoyed the environment each class had and how convenient the childcare schedules were: She didn’t need to be too far away from her girls while she took care of herself for an hour. “The Y is important to my family and me because it is a part of our daily routine. It’s a great way to get in shape and have fun.” Group Fight Instructor Alejandra says that she loves seeing Elizabeth attend class so regularly. She’s a true example to her daughters but also to other moms in our community.
While her family enjoys camping, playing games at home, and baking together, Elizabeth and her husband also love that the Chris-Town Y offers a Parent’s Night Out program twice a month. This allows them to have some time away from the kids knowing that their girls are having just as much as fun with their friends. Her two daughters love creating unique crafts like edible slime and piñatas—and of course, eating popsicles!
When we asked Elizabeth what she would tell someone who didn’t know about the Y, she said, “There’s something for all ages! It’s a very welcoming place that has wonderful resources for families. It provides opportunities and we love that.” Thank you for being an inspiration in living our cause by being a healthy ambassador in our community, Elizabeth!
