After his family was able to sign him up for the Chris-Town’s Summer Camp Javi found that summer wasn’t the only season he could spend with the Y. He quickly fell in love with the environment and fun activities the Y offered him and his family.

“I was worried there wouldn’t be any activities for kids my age. But Stephanie did a really good job during the summer! I guess that’s why I choose to stay here”. Now participating in Teen Lock-ins, family movie nights and sports, Javi has become a friendly familiar face in the Y programs. He says that without the Y, he would be at home playing videogames. He loves having a place that allows him to meet new friends and stay active.

On year after joining summer camp you’ll find Javi volunteering for the Y’s afterschool care regularly by handing out lunches and engaging the kids in fun interactive games. When asked why he chooses to volunteer, Javi says “I had tons of fun here last summer and I want to make sure other kids have fun too. It’s my favorite part of this place. I can help other kids like me.” His willingness to help other and fun energy makes Javi a great role model and advocate for the Chris-Town YMCA.
