She knew she had to make changes and was determined to find a healthier lifestyle. Keba was introduced to Al Hameed, a wellness coach that gave her the direction she needed to start this journey. “Al was very patient with me. He took his time and answered all my questions about the machines.” She gained confidence as she learned how to use the fitness equipment and found ways to overcome her health issues.
Her first few visits Keba was approached by group fitness instructor, Alejandra Jones, and was challenged to take some of our fitness classes. She started with Zumba which was fun and energetic. Then moved on to more challenging classes like Active Together and Strength Train Together. Keba remembers how difficult some of those classes were at first but never gave up. She persevered and started to see the benefits of her choice in living a healthier lifestyle. Along with losing weight, Keba found herself with more energy in the day and found a passion for exercising.
When asked why she chooses to come to the Chris-Town YMCA Keba says “The staff has always been so welcoming and made me feel comfortable. It’s my second home away from home.” Keba constantly works out, attends fitness classes and even brings in her friends to try the Y! We love her genuine and welcoming personality as she shares the YMCA in her community by sharing her story about her experiences at the Y.
