She played softball throughout high school and found her love and passion for outdoor sports and staying healthy. After having three kids, she found herself wanting the same lifestyle for her family and desperately searched for a place that offered those activities for them to participate in while also prioritizing her health.
Upon this, she discovered the Chris-Town YMCA and has never looked back. She has been a member for the past 22 years and loved every minute of it. As Relia immersed herself in the YMCA fitness community through group exercise classes and personal training she also got her children involved in the sports and swim programs. She remembers how supportive the coaches were and how they encouraged her girls to always give their all. Her middle child, Nicole, was even awarded a soccer scholarship towards college in High school.
“I look back now and it was such a crucial step for my kids to be involved in sports. It kept them active and helped my girls learn to support each other.”
Now, Relia and her family give back by being avid donors to Chris-Town’s annual support campaign. They love the sense of community the YMCA has and the opportunities it gives to this community. Her husband, Mark, and oldest daughter, Enrica now coach recreational basketball in hopes that they can give another family the life changing experience they did.
“I have the opportunity and privilege to help mold a child’s life for the better.” Mark states. “I’m grateful for places like the Y.”
