Meet Anthony Cuozzo!
Anthony started working at the Y in 2013 as a lifeguard. At the time, Anthony had just received his lifeguard certification and was looking for a place to use his skills. The Y was a great, convenient place for Anthony to use his training. Over the course of several summers between semesters at Arizona State University, Anthony stood out as a leader on the aquatics team and summer of 2014, Anthony accepted the position of head lifeguard at the Desert Foothills YMCA. Anthony began to expand his knowledge on safety and risk management by becoming YMCA Lifeguard Instructor Certified in 2015. “I enjoy working with different group whether it be other departments or community members through training”. Anthony has been monumental in the development and implementation of many programs including the Safety Around Water elementary school education, Junior Lifeguard program and Girl Scout and Boy Scout Water Safety education.
In his time at the YMCA, Anthony has gained exposure to cooperate development, developed management skills, learned how to develop his peers and staff to be work force ready. “The Y has given me the flexibility to be a leader but also have life balance”.
