Wanting to be an airline pilot, he enrolled in Aeronautical Management at Arizona State University. Following graduation, Brian flew for a locally based airline until being hired at Continental Airlines (now United Airlines) where he is currently a Los Angeles based 737 Captain.
Brian and his wife Jennifer met in 1998 while serving as pilots for a regional airline. In fact, Brian proposed in a unique setting while they were flying a trip together. They married in 2000 and moved back to the Cave Creek area. Jennifer continued her aviation career flying until their only daughter Caitlin “Cait” was born in 2005 when Jen shifted gears to “stay at home mom.” While managing family and home aspects, Jen decided to return to Law School. After Law School Jen worked as Assistant Attorney General in the Child Services Division for the State of Arizona. Jen now serves as Labor Relations Counsel for Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). After Cait enrolled in Kindergarten at Horseshoe Trails Elementary in Cave Creek Unified School District (CCUSD), Jennifer and Brian became very involved in both the school and district. Brian and Jennifer served on the PTO at HTES for four years, and Brian Chairman of Cave Creek Unified Education Foundation (CCUEF) for three years. Cait is currently in 8th grade at Sonoran Trails Middle School (HTES). She is involved in music, Robotics, and Government.
The Bunkers’ enjoy spending time with family and friends. Outdoor family time includes hiking, swimming, and surfing (whenever in Hawaii and Southern California).
As Y members, the family takes advantage of spin classes, swimming, and cardio.
There is nothing greater than giving back to your community. Providing children with positive role models to continue the spirit of community is especially important. Being on the Board of the YMCA will allow me the opportunity to continue giving to the community. The Bunkers donate to the Y through Arizona State Tax Credit and direct donation in furtherance of Y missions. The Bunkers’ are particularly interested in supporting veterans and drowning prevention.
