JoAnn Paradies has been with the Y since the inception of the Desert Foothills branch location. She became involved with the Y because of many reasons, but the most important one to her and her family was the Amazing Kids Center. Being a mother to three children now at the ages of 11, 7, and 5, she wanted to find a place where she felt her children were safe and happy when she is working out. She happily says that her children loved the Center from the get-go.
JoAnn values the fact that the Y’s mission is based on Christian principles, and that its goal is to encompass the whole family. JoAnn likes that the Y offers something for every member of her family. They like participating in family events, Parents’ Night Out, and all the youth activities that are offered. She says that it’s nice that her children have the opportunity to try different sports without the commitment of a lot of financial expense. She feels that it is essential for them to grow as individuals and she believes that the Y does an excellent job of helping them learn about their roles and responsibilities in their families and their larger communities.
She says that the Y has your whole health in mind because it not only focuses on strengthening your body, but also relationships. It is a place where you can get as connected as much as you would like. JoAnn loves the community feel of the Y and has met many good friends through the group fitness classes. She adds that everyone she encounters at the Y is friendly and she has always felt very comfortable and accepted each time she visits. She also says she enjoys being a part of the Y because it’s nice to walk through the doors and be able to say hello to so many familiar, smiling faces. JoAnn appreciates that the Y is also focused on strengthening families and communities, and she hopes that others will come to see the value that the organization can add to people’s lives.
