Youth & Community Venues

The Community Need

Nurturing the potential of every child and teen to reduce the higher levels of depression and childhood obesity and to give youth a sense of community.

The Y’s Response

  • Strengthen delivery of after school care and day camp with homework help,
    swim lessons, and nutrition.
  • Enrich organized youth program such as job preparation, nutrition, STEM, intro to cultural arts, and life skills.
  • Expand leadership programs for teens, including Youth and Government, Employee U, Teen Leaders Club, and Leaders In Training.
  • Develop preschool aged programming in which the curriculum includes education and specialty skills such as swim lessons.
  • Engage and empower teens in their community through volunteerism.

The Community Need

Improving the community’s health and well-being to reduce rates of chronic disease and obesity, improve mental health, and help the needs of the aging population.

The Y’s Response

  • Expand education offering to include nutrition, mindfulness, and behavioral health for all ages.
  • Develop offerings for young adults with the creation of adult coed volleyball, pickleball, soccer, and more.

  • Increase senior engagement through movement activities, social interaction, healthy living education, and hands-on activities.
  • Engage members in activities that promote community and a healthy lifestyle.

Common Area Refresh

The Community Need

Creating stronger communities through increasing community engagement, eliminating drownings, and developing the next generation to be changemakers.

The Y’s Response

  • Create engagements for young adults for volunteering, career development, and providing support for a successful future.
  • Assure inclusiveness by providing financial assistance to diverse and underserved populations.
  • Continue to partner with organizations that serve the underserved for outreach to foster children, foster teens, and individuals with special needs.

Aquatics Modernization

The Community Need

Increase drowning prevention efforts through water safety education and learn to swim programming.

The Y’s Response

  • Creating stronger communities through increasing community engagement, eliminating drownings, and creating the next generation of changemakers.
  • Go from 500 to over 1000 kids per year in Safety Around Water swim lessons.
  • Go from three to six lap lanes , allowing the Y the ability to partner with local high school for swim team and to serve the overwhelming need for lap swim and water fitness participants.
