Londyn, her mother, Laura, and father, Luis, came to the Y to attend our Summer Day Camp. When she first started day camp two years ago, she was quiet and shy and kept to herself mostly. Her mother, Laura, wanted her to come out of her shell and make more friends so she decided to enroll her in our programs.
“We currently benefit from the scholarship program and the financial assistance has been so helpful for us. Londyn has been able to participate in summer day camp and other programs which we might not have otherwise been able to afford. This has greatly increased her confidence and abilities. We are also able to utilize the much needed Parent’s Night Out of which the benefit has been immeasurable. Knowing that Londyn is safe, happy and well cared for when I can’t be with her makes me feel confident and assured while at home with the new baby. The care she receives and the friendships she has made have been such a wonderful experience.”
This is Londyn’s third summer at the Y and she has since become the social butterfly her mother had hoped for. She has built friendships, and impacted staff that had the pleasure of interacting with her. Londyn and her father recently attended our first annual “Dadurday Weekend” and her father couldn’t be happier. A new addition has also been added to the family; a newborn baby brother. We hope to grow with Londyn and her family for many years to come.
Because Londyn is able to benefit from our scholarship she is Thriving. Her quality of life has been positively impacted on a huge level because of the assistance she receives from the Y. Thanks to the generous support of those who donate to the Y’s Annual Community Support Campaign and other fundraising events, financial assistance was able to support Londyn, her family and many more like her. With more kids like Londyn, the Y can make a difference in youth development in our community.
