The Valley of the Sun YMCA is helping kids, adults and families from all walks of life reach their goals and contribute to solutions that improve communities. The Y provides people with endless opportunities to achieve more.

The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

Defining our areas of focus:

HEALTHY LIVING  Improving the nation’s health and well-being.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT  Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY  Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.

Opportunities for All

The Y is for everyone. Our programs, services and initiatives enable kids to realize their potential, prepare teens for college, offer ways for families to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body; prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a nationwide service ethic. And that’s just the beginning.

Community Programs for Healthy Living:

Medical & Dental Clinics  The Valley of the Sun YMCA is improving the nation’s health and well-being and fostering connections with Medical and Dental Clinics to serve both Valley children and adults in need of care.

Corporate Wellness  The Valley of the Sun YMCA believes that our organization is the ultimate partner when it comes to Corporate Wellness. Our main goal is to modify employee health risks by guiding, promoting, and reinforcing preventative choices.

Community Programs for Social Responsibility:

Volunteer  Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

Let’s Move! Outside Initiative  The goal of the Let’s Move! Outside Initiative is to get kids active! Allowing them to see physical activity as a fun way to explore the world around them!

Military Outreach  As a member of the Y, you and your family can spend quality time together and enjoy fun activities in a warm, supportive environment. It’s also a place to meet other military families who can relate to your unique situation.

Senior Outreach  The mission of the YMCA’s Outreach Programs for Ahwatukee Seniors (Y OPAS) is to assist Ahwatukee seniors 62 years and older in staying independent and healthy at home.

Downtown Housing Program  As a non-profit, the Y strives to promote healthy living and social responsibility. Offering affordable housing assists those looking to get back on their feet and heal their spirits, minds and bodies.

Togetherhood  This program invites Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit the communities where they live.

Community Programs for Youth Development:

K-12 Program  K-12 at the Y is a supervised, online-learning education alternative offered onsite at many of the Y branches valley-wide and is being administered by accredited Arizona Virtual Academy.

YMCA i-Learn Program  A program for students who need or prefer alternative education outside traditional school in a structured environment, has impacted the lives many.

Miracle League  The Maryville Family YMCA’s Miracle League provides the opportunity to experience the joy of playing baseball to disabled children ages 4 and older.

Juvenile Intervention  Two Valley of the Sun YMCA branches offer alternative solution programming for at-risk teens in an attempt to intervene, in a positive way, early in their development.

Reach & Rise Mentoring Program  There are many great kids in your community who are also at risk due to low self-esteem, social isolation, and family problems. These youth and teens, ages 6 to 18, need a friend, a role model, a hero – they need you.

Youth & Government  With the premise that leaders are developed by doing, the YMCA’s Youth and Government program’s mission is to “help create the next generation of thoughtful, committed and active citizens.”

Youth Workforce Development  The Workforce Development Program uses case management to help youth fill basic needs (transportation, childcare, food, housing, counseling/medical referrals), set academic/career goals & navigate a path to achieve them.

Teen Leadership Program  Leadership and academic enrichment programs, along with our dedicated efforts to close the academic achievement gap for low-income youth, ensure that every child has an opportunity to envision and pursue the best possible future.

Power Scholar Academy  Summer time means enrichment camping, travel, and field trips—for many youth. But it is often a time of learning loss for many students, especially those from low income families. The Y is helping kids succeed this summer through the- Power Scholars Academy.
