Supervised online-learning program offers alternative to traditional school setting
The Y has joined the online school community with its K-12 Program. K-12 at the Y is a supervised, online-learning education alternative offered onsite at many of the Y branches valley-wide and is being administered by accredited Arizona Virtual Academy.
With curriculum aligned with all local and state academic standards, and requirements, K-12 is designed for students who need, or prefer, alternative education outside traditional school settings. This program is run in a structured environment of cooperation and fellowship. Every enrolled student receives a YMCA Youth Membership, FREE of charge, and all course materials from books to microscopes are provided for use.
The YMCA’s ultimate goal is to assist all children and teens by providing a successful alternative to gaining an education, as well as a chance to attend post-secondary school or vocational options that successfully align with their individual aptitudes and interests. This modern approach to education provides a much-needed educational alternative for many children.
