Be a hero — YMCA seeking trained mentor volunteers for rewarding Reach & Rise Mentoring Program
According to a 2011 United State Census Report, more than one in five children in the United States live in poverty. These are children who are at risk of falling prey to hurdles which potentially keep them from obtaining an education, reaching a meaningful and productive adulthood, and successfully joining the workforce.
There are many great kids in your community who are also at risk due to low self-esteem, social isolation, and family problems. These youth and teens, ages 6 to 18, need a friend, a role model, a hero – they need you.
They need a person who can spend a little time sharing interests, listening, and ultimately raising a their self-confidence and outlook on life. You would be amazed at what an afternoon at the ball game or a trip to the park can do for a child in need of adult companionship and guidance.
