The YMCA is a nonprofit with a cause.
We’re for healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. Our four core values are respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. That’s why we’re more than a gym. Creating Positive Change in a Child’s Life
The Maryville Family YMCA’s Miracle League provides the opportunity to experience the joy of playing baseball to disabled children ages 4 and older. In the process, participants make new friends, build self-esteem, and create lasting memories. The Miracle League is another opportunity for the Y to affect change in a positive way in the community.
Offering Companionship & Confidence to Children in our Community
There are many great kids in your community who are also at risk due to low self-esteem, social isolation, and family problems. These youth and teens, ages 6 to 18, need a friend, a role model, a hero – they need you. They need a person who can spend a little time sharing interests, listening, and ultimately raising a their self-confidence and outlook on life.
Creating a Promising Future For Our Youth
With the premise that leaders are developed by doing, the YMCA’s Youth and Government program’s mission is to “help create the next generation of thoughtful, committed and active citizens”. With this in mind, teens are taught the principles of a democratic society and are given leadership roles in the models of judicial, legislative and executive branches of local, state and national government.
Helping Children Achieve Their Goals
Y Achievers helps teens improve academic performance, develop a positive sense of self, build character, explore diverse college and career options, and interact with professionals who serve as role models. Y Achievers targets youth, age 24 & under from across the Valley, who are in need of support to achieve their goals.
