How fun it is to see our facility thriving with college students, families and adults participating in our programs and connecting together.
And of course, we can’t forget our Summer Adventure Camp kids starting to build their memories and experiences.
At the Lincoln Y, I am excited to start the summer with a new leadership team as the year has been a transition.
Having a team to support each of our areas of focus including youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility is critical to the Y and I am excited about our future!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce my team and encourage you to introduce yourself. Help us learn how we can better serve you and the downtown Phoenix community!
- Erica Burnett – Youth & Family Director. Erica just graduated from ASU and can be found leading our kids singing in the hallways of the Y or lining up for a sports or water
- Jason Swank – Aquatics & Group Fitness Director. Jason comes to the Y after a career in social work. Look for Jason in the pool with our new Lincoln Sea Lions recreational swim team, teaching swim lessons or building new group fitness class HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training).
- Bernardo Badilla – Personal Training & Sports Director. Jason just graduated from NAU and comes to the valley after graduating from our inaugural class of the Y Leadership Leading our personal trainers and driving youth & adult sports will be an exciting focus.
- Nick Fernandez – Membership Director. Nick has been our rock having served as our membership director since the end of 2017. Have ideas on how to enhance your membership experience or want to refer a friend to join the Y – see Nick at the welcome center!
My team is in place and we are looking forward to making this summer the “Best Summer Ever”. Feel free to stop by my office, which is directly to the right of the entrance. My personal goal this summer is to put on my shoes and teach a regular Strength Train Together Group Fitness class and to get one class on the schedule. I did actually start my Y journey as a volunteer group fitness instructor at the Legacy Foundation Chris-Town YMCA. So… the challenge is on and I hope to see some of you visit me!
