The Downtown YMCA Residency program offers housing, but also supportive services for its residents. Those services can range from help obtaining community or government assistance to fun events.
The Valley Christian High School Chorale group from Chandler performed on April 9 in the Lincoln Residence Program’s Dinner and Show. There were over 40 residents in attendance. The event, held in the Lincoln Downtown gym, also provided a free dinner and raffle prizes.
“Having social events like this helps bring a sense of community within our Residence Program and gives us the opportunity to show the residents that we value and care about them as human beings, and not just a place that provides a place to live,” Residence Operations Director Rick Mouer said.
The chorale group performed Disney show tunes along with some classic numbers including “So long, Farewell” from the Sound of Music. It was the Chorale’s seventh show that day after performances at Phoenix schools, retirement homes and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
“We were entertained by the talent and energy of the 16 high school students tonight and all the residents here really enjoyed themselves by singing and clapping along,” Mouer said.
