“I was never involved in sports growing up. If you see me try and catch a ball you would know why, but I grew up running, swimming, and hiking in the desert. I used to swim 3 miles every Saturday during college just for fun. I have always stayed fit with running and basic weight training” Jennifer said, a member with the Y for a little over 7 years.

She has actively been visiting the Y since then and recently moved a little over a mile away from both the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA and the Legacy Foundation Chris‐Town YMCA. Jennifer not only found passion in the pool, but she then started to do weights and cross‐training. She also did CrossFit and from there she transitioned to Triathlons. She has completed five Triathlons and recently completed one in which she placed 16th in her age group out of 120 athletes.

Jennifer has been seen this summer coming into the Lincoln Family YMCA at least three times a week.

Jennifer has plans to complete a few more Triathlons over the summer. She has a 3-year-old, Azella, who loves to come dressed in her princess outfits and shoes to play in the Amazing Kids Center. Jennifer shares her passion with Azella who has been introduced to swim lessons. They have a special play date on Fridays, swimming together in the pool. “I feel like I am a more complete person because I can finally embrace and thrive in who I am. I am a better mother, wife, friend and all around better person,” Jennifer said.

Jennifer loves to be outside and explore the world on her feet. When training is hard and long, Jennifer shares, “I can always go back to why I love triathlons and try and enjoy the moment, the sound of my feet hitting the ground, the speed of the road passing under my bike, the smoothness of the water.“
