Please join me in welcoming Daniel Acostanunes to our Maryvale Team. Daniel will be serving as our Family Program Director, and he will be responsible for increasing our family programming at the branch and overseeing many of our current programs like our Miracle League. Daniel grew up in the vibrant community of Maryvale and he was once a Healthy Lifestyle coach for the branch.
Prior to joining our team, Daniel was the Health & Physical Education Director at Boys & Girls Club of the East Valley. It was there that he gained an intense passion for influencing and improving future generations. From 2010 to 2014, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He feels that this experience helped provide him with a sense of maturity and leadership.
Daniel is also an accomplished mountain climber and he has successfully hiked to the summit of the infamous Flat Iron and Four Peaks. In addition to his hiking skills, he also rescued a person from the Pacific Ocean in 13 degrees water and jumped out of a moving helicopter using only a rope. In 2012, he had the pleasure of attending President Obama’s Inaugural Military Ball, which was an important milestone in his life. Daniel loves freshly prepared ceviche, and his mom is his greatest fan. She is especially proud of having him work as part of the Maryvale community, where they proudly call home.
