The Valley of the Sun YMCA’s Miracle League Program for disabled children offers the chance for positive change.
The Maryvale Family YMCA’s Miracle League provides the opportunity to experience the joy of playing baseball to disabled children ages 4 and older. In the process, participants make new friends, build self-esteem, and create lasting memories. The Miracle League is another opportunity for the Y to affect change in a positive way in the community.
Designed specifically for children with mental and physical disabilities, the Miracle League affords them the opportunity to play as part of a team by removing the obstacles that keep them off of the field. Once such obstacle is natural grass fields used in traditional leagues. The Y’s rubberized turf accommodates wheelchairs, walkers, and other devices while also helping to prevent injuries.
Free to all participants and volunteers, each player will receive a free jersey, hat and pictures. All games are played at the Maryvale Family YMCA, located at 3825 N. 67th Ave., Phoenix 85033.
