He loved being in the water and showed absolutely no fear. At age 2, Nabor started swim lessons and was swimming full stroke freestyle before he turned 3.<\/p>\n
Every two weeks, Nabor would pass to the next level of swim lessons. By age 5, he had passed all of the swim levels except for the lifeguarding course. The lifeguards suggested he join a swim team. So at 6, he began swimming for the Tolleson Tidalwaves. In his first swim meet, he finished with three first-place ribbons. That is when he fell in love with the sport of swimming.<\/p>\n
When Nabor was in first grade, his family moved to Goodyear, where he joined the Goodyear Sharks rec swim team. By the time he was 9 or 10 years old, he dominated the rec swim league. People thought he was a club swimmer.<\/p>\n
Nabor started swimming with the team under Coach Ryan at age 10. He only lasted about two months and then quit. Although he loved Coach Ryan, he wasn\u2019t ready to be swimming full time His parents did not force him to keep swimming because they knew he would want to go back; he just loved the water too much.<\/p>\n
At age 11, Nabor swam for the Goodyear Sharks again, but this time he swam against the 13- to 14-year-olds. Once again, he was unbeatable. People accused him of cheating because they thought he was a club swimmer even though he was swimming an age group up and had only done club for a couple of months. After dominating the 13- to 14-year-olds as an 11-year-old, he decided he was ready to go back to the Silver Fins.<\/p>\n
Nabor was the “new” kid who was making “A” finals his first year at the Arizona State Championships. Nabor won his first age group state title at 12. He then won his first senior state title at 16 along with his first high school state championship. Nabor\u2019s biggest win came earlier this year at Sectionals Meet in Phoenix, where he won the 200 IM and 100 fly. Nabor also recently attended the USA Swimming National Select Camp at the National Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He learned a lot and was a great representative of the Silver Fins during the camp. Coach Meg Barta, one of our Silver Fin assistant coaches, also attended the camp with Nabor.<\/p>\n
