To say Faith Skeens is an active 16-year-old is an understatement. Faith is active at the Northwest Valley YMCA in so many ways. In addition to playing on a club volleyball team for the last 4 years, she also coaches a 14’s club volleyball team. Faith is not going to stop there either. She plays volleyball for Imagine Prep school as well. Faith is also active with Imagine Prep high school and is working hard as a student-athlete. Faith likes being around the Y so much that she is going to be a lifeguard for our Y this summer. Faith has also spent countless hours volunteering for many events the Y has offered over the last couple of years.
Faith has been active with her church Freedom Valley, as well. Faith can be found working out in group fitness class or with one of our trainers on the wellness floor when she is not in a volleyball practice. Faith is a wonderful example of the reason we as the Y invest so much time and energy in developing our youth. The example she sets for younger athletes is one of dedication and doing the right thing, this speaks to the core values of the YMCA of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We want to thank Faith for all she does in the Y and encourage her to keep up the hard work. We all know that living the right way and setting a positive example for others can be challenging, but as we grow older we realize it is the most rewarding part of life.
We look forward to continuing to engage Faith with programs like teen leaders and youth in government.
