It was my first summer as your executive director, and I’ve had an incredible time “beating the heat” with you.

We are keeping our group fitness participants going with our Summer Beat the Heat Challenge! This is a FREE event for members to help push you through our hot summer and encourage you to take group fitness classes. You can register for the challenge at our Welcome Center.

If you take three group fitness classes a week, you will be entered into a weekly raffle for a T-shirt! A max of two classes per day will be counted toward the challenge, and there will be grand prizes at the end. This challenge runs through Aug. 31, and you must sign into classes through our Alaris software.

Fall is approaching, which means it’s time to get back to school and back to the Y for your favorite group fitness class or First Friday Social. We kicked off this summer by raising awareness about the need to keep kids safe around water. Although the kids are back in school, it is SO important to remember to always be a water watcher. The most drownings happen in August due to a false sense of security because kids have been swimming all summer. Also, adults may be more distracted with new fall routines.

Here is the Water Watcher Pledge, just in case you missed it.

“I pledge to be a #Waterwatcher to keep kids safe in and around water.

I agree to:

The Y is running a great program and is asking members to help. We want you to help us support our local schools. We encourage you to bring in school supplies that we can donate to our community. You will receive a free guest pass for any school supplies you bring in. We have tons of kids in our community who can use your help!
