Phoenix, AZ, October 31, 2018 — Today the Valley of the Sun YMCA announced that it will host free child watch services on Election Day, providing busy parents and caregivers the opportunity to make it easier to get to the polls on November 6. Taking kids to the polls may add stress for busy parents and caregivers; the Y is committed to doing its part to help remove barriers to voting so that all Americans can vote.
“The Y has a long, proud history of promoting civic engagement. It’s an essential part of our cause to strengthen communities,” said Peyton Tune, COO at the Valley of the Sun YMCA. “We know that one reason people may not vote is due to lack of child care and we want to ensure that those who want to, are able to make their voices heard. As the largest provider of child care in the country, the Y is uniquely positioned to offer care on Election Day to all families in the community.”
Parents heading to the polls are able to bring their children to any Valley of the Sun YMCA branch from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Free child watch services will be offered to both members and non-members of the community. Children of all ages are welcome, but must be potty-trained and registered in advance. Visit valleyYMCA.org to find a location near you.Download Press Release
