The Y Race benefits the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign. These proceeds go towards our Military Families by offering subsidies to members of our Armed Forces. The Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA provides over $30,000 in membership subsidies annually.
The Y Race Phoenix, now in its 49th year, is the oldest road race in Arizona. The scenic rolling course starts and finishes at the 16,000-acre South Mountain Park, the largest municipal park in the country.
The courses are out and back routes run completely within the park, with spectacular views of striking desert landscape and the Phoenix skyline. With a Half Marathon, 5K, and Stroller Dash there is something for everyone- from the competitive runner to walkers enjoying the picturesque setting.
Included in race registrations are a shirt, medal, and chipped timing.

Runners must register by September 25th in order to receive their shirt at packet pick up. Runners who register September 26th – October 8th will receive their shirts in the mail, specifically to the addresses provided by in registration.
If winning the race isn’t your thing there are still opportunities to win great prizes. There will be prizes for best costume, best group costume, biggest team, and more.
This year’s race will include live music, entertainment, a photo booth and plenty of fun surprises for adults and kids alike. This event is geared towards the entire family. No need to leave the family at home this year.
Food, Water, and Aid
Multiple Food, Water and Aid stations will be available along the course along with at the end of the race.
Want to run our races but don’t want to hire a sitter? The Y Race has free child care while you run! While we suggest the whole family to do the Family 5K together, if the little ones aren’t up to the task we have a new and improved Kid’s Village to spend their time.
Our free Kid’s Village will contain inflatable bounce houses, obstacle courses, a rock wall, arts and crafts and plenty of games supervised by our great YMCA child care staff. Chances are you will be ready to leave before they are.
Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers, per gender, for each race.
Our goal with these races is to have the friendliest race for the whole family to enjoy. For those who may be doing their first 5k, 10k, or half, we want to make this a memorable experience you can be proud of. We want to shift our focus away from just the top fastest athletes towards the entire group of runners. Everyone will be completing the same 3.1-13.1 miles and we want to celebrate everyone from the first to the last finisher. We want the focus of our runners to be the finish line, not the finish time.
We need volunteers for all aspects of the race production. From working water stations, to set-up and clean-up, to helping direct runners we appreciate all the help we can get!

Rain Check and Refund Policy
Phoenix on average only has 28 days of rain so the chances of having to cancel the event due to inclement weather are very low. There will not be any refunds or rain checks of any kind for any reason.
If you are interested in downgrading your race, feel free to just run the shorter race. If you would like to upgrade your race, please contact us and we will help you change races.
Running with annimals
We understand that many times our dogs are the best running partners there are. However, only registered service animals are allowed on the course. They must be clearly identifiable as a service animal.
Packet Pickup will be Friday, October 20th at The Runners Den, 6505 N. 16th Street, Phoenix AZ 85016, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. If you can’t make it on Friday, there will be packet pickup at the race starting at 6:00 am.
