I am also a member of a group called S.A.D.D., Students Against Destructive Decisions, we meet weekly at the Yuma Family YMCA. SADD is a youth group that teaches middle school and high school students the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol within our community. SADD’s mission statement is to empower young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily lives. We deal with peer pressure, teen suicide prevention and how all of these forces can cause us to stray from our future desirable path. We are always learning the new “trends” kids are doing in the community and ways to stop them or be more aware and know what to do if we are ever confronted with them. We will be traveling to the 2019 SADD National Conference in Phoenix the end of June. This will be my first time going and I am so excited! We do many community events and we are always learning ways to empower ourselves and resist those outside forces that could affect our future choices. We meet at the YMCA once a week for instruction and lessons. When we are there, we always have a happy and positive atmosphere. The staff is very nice and always wants you to grow no matter how many questions you have they are always willing to help. They always have a smile you never know if they are having a bad day or not. I probably would not be part of this group if I did not go to the YMCA but I am so thankful that I found this group!

I am going to Camp Sky-Y this summer and I cannot wait; it is going to be a great experience and a fun way to learn!

Camp Sky-Y will be one of the wonderful memories I get to make this summer thanks to the YMCA.

While being a member part of SADD, I have a gym membership, which helps a lot, so after SADD meetings or when I am not busy during the week, I can keep a healthy schedule of working out.

I never knew how many awesome things there are to do at the Y. The YMCA is a completely rounded place and has something for everyone in the family! My younger siblings attend the Day Camp during the summer, various programs during the school year, Parents Night Out, and Camp Sky-Y! On top of it all, their dedication to the military families here in Yuma is amazing. I myself come from a veteran military family and it is nice to see those who serve our country appreciated while they are here at home.

We appreciate all you do and the smiles every day when we walk in! Thank you Yuma Family YMCA for being here to help the youth, military, and families in the Yuma community!
