Our intention was to use the free membership and then return to the gym we had been members of for more than 20 years.

But after being at the YMCA for those three months, we decided it was the best fit for our family. It was so nice for my husband and I to exercise together, and our kids loved the childcare center. The YMCA staff caters to children of all ages.

Being at the YMCA encouraged my kids (now pre-teens) to exercise. As a nurse, I understand the benefits of regular exercise. It can help prevent a wide range of health problems and concerns including stroke, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and arthritis. It also helps control stress, blood pressure, and depression.

At the YMCA, whether you’re single, a married couple or a family with kids, the YMCA fits your needs.

The classes the YMCA offers are many, and they fit everyone whether you are just starting out or the most experienced person in the gym.

Trainers are available to help, and they often offer specials for the purchase of training sessions. Check out the list of classes at the YMCA. They include spinning, yoga, power groups, classes for geriatrics and more. You will have so much space in the large open floor plan to get your workout in and achieve your optimum goal, with plenty of room to spare.

When you first sign up for a gym membership, the normal intention is to head there a couple times a week to get some attainable results. The reality at the YMCA is you get drawn into the training culture, and the more you become invested in your results, the more healthy living starts to creep into every facet of your lifestyle.
At the YMCA, you inevitably will find your training schedule coinciding with others. The more you work out, the more you see the same people. Sooner or later you start talking to them, sharing conversations about training and other topics.

The YMCA also wants you to be completely comfortable with the staff, who are courteous and helpful. Staff members at the YMCA always have a smile.

As a nonprofit organization, the YMCA also offers many services for our community. The classes and activities they offer throughout the year are always advertised.

Write a list of your absolute “must haves” in an ideal gym, which is different from the “nice to haves.” I guarantee the YMCA will allow you to check most of the “must haves” off your list. The bathroom/shower facilities and equipment are cleaned on a regular basis at the YMCA. That is a must for me and my family.

Do you want to add years to your life? Then exercise at the YMCA!
