The YMCA is proud to have offered a leadership development program for teens ages 13-16 at seven locations this past summer. For teens interested in gaining work-training experience and formal job training skills, this program provided a safe and nurturing environment. Participants worked directly with a YMCA teen director who coach teens daily, and had the opportunity to shadow multiple YMCA staff through a typical day. Through this program, participants gained experience through teamwork, problem-solving and hands-on professional development.
This program ran weekly; to participate the teen committed to completing the entire week and complete an interview with the local YMCA. All a part of the design to instill professionalism and work-ready skills. Concluding this program, teens felt more prepared for their first job and may have even receive a job offer from the YMCA!
