Star is an employee at the Chandler/Gilbert YMCA. Star is involved with Public Allies. Public Allies employs integrated strategies to develop the next generation of leaders and re-define leadership for our time through non-profits and public service companies. She has been with the Public Allies program for 2 years and after the 1st year of the program she was allowed to decide where she wanted to do her leadership apprenticeship and she picked the Y. At the Y she works with the childcare department and the Teen Leaders Club. She helps kids in the after school program play team building games such as Capture The Flag. She said "Capture The Flag helps the children work together, listen to directions and be competitive. She goes to Conley Elementary school during recess and gets the kids involved with group games there. Star said "I like working with kids because they have such joy in the small things." One day she would like to run a non-profit on her own.
